EVERY child deserves the opportunity to experience what is being cultivated within Child of the Wild programming and we are proud to share our commitment to creating ways that support program accessibility through our Bridge to the Wild opportunities!
Below are opportunities EVERY family can explore prior to enrolling in our program, regardless of financial status.
Spring 2023 was the kick-off to our scholarship program. We are thrilled to share that we have since welcomed 20+ wilds as a result of our commUNITY’s scholarship efforts.

Scholarship status will be shared with all applicants on or before Wednesday, January 7, 2026.”

The Children’s Foundation Grant - CAMPS OF HOPE
The Children’s Foundation was just recently brought to our awareness and after further communications with the foundation, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the initiative they have in place for our local communities (Hastings, Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties) and the families (whom are eligible) for funding to put towards their children’s programming.
Since our friendly connection made in Summer 2024 we are thrilled to share that three families have benefited from their grant opportunity.
Cobourg Rotary Funding
The Rotary Club of Cobourg, over its 99-year history, has provided service and support to innumerable organizations, groups, and individuals in our area, and has worked diligently and highly co-operatively with other Northumberland organizations to the benefit of the larger community as a whole
Rotary, locally, has supported many projects, ranging from the Hospital and the Cobourg Community Centre to a huge variety of smaller, more specific and esoteric requests.
This year their youth services and special needs committees were able to fund a local student for an entire session at Child of the Wild Northumberland and they encourage families to apply for funding.
Junior Wild Guides
Junior Wild Guides is a volunteer opportunity for your nature loving wilds ages 13+ years. The intention of this program is to inspire young minds to learn and grow alongside each other. Wild Guide volunteers will be asked to step into a leadership role and to provide support with the wilds enrolled and the needs (when appropriate) arise.
We are more than happy to sign off on highschool volunteer hours as well.

Used Clothing Depot
A neighbouring nature program, Wild Hearts, inspired this idea. It’s GENIUS! The cost associated with suitable gear for each season when attending nature programs can add up. Not to mention the rapid growth of children in the early years.
And so, we remain open to accepting gear/clothing donations for The Child of the Wild Clothing Depot/Lending Library. Please connect if you have items your family no longer needs/if you are in need of any related items as our gear depot has begun accumulating.

Sliding Scales & Siblings Discounts
We believe that nature-based learning should be accessible to ALL families. To support this vision, we offer sibling discounts and sliding scale rates to ensure that our programs are as inclusive and affordable as possible.
For families with multiple children, our sibling discounts apply as follows:
Single Child
$60-$80 per child, per day
Two Siblings
$55-$75 per child, per day
Three Siblings
$50-$70 per child, per day
Our sliding scale rates are designed to accommodate families with varying financial needs, allowing us to work together to find a rate that works for you- no explanation required when selecting the rate that aligns for your family.
