Week 2: Bird Bonanza: Nests + Eggs
The first part of our two-week Bird Bonanza series has us focusing on birds nests and eggs. We will be exploring this topic with hands on learning and a team building STEAM experiment.
Week 3: Bird Bonanza- Sweet Songs + Sights
Through the lens of our winged friends we will use binoculars to guide us through a series of forest activities and use our ears to listen in closely. We will finish our day with power tools as we create log bird feeders to hang around our home base areas.
Week 4: Making an Impact- Earth Day Adventure
In the spirit of Earth Day we will venture to local protected areas and together will make an impact as we work together to cleanup our walkways and ditches. While on site, we have a special program wide project we will be sharing with everyone for the first time… stay tuned!

This week we take action on our program wide group project… that’s all we can share for now. Hehe stay tuned!
Week 6: Animal Adaptations- Fur & Feathers
We have a Conservation Crate booked through the OFAH for two weeks- allowing us to have an up close and personal look and feel with 14 different animal pelts and intentional activities and discussions surrounding this.
Week 7: Animal Adaptations- Wee Wanderers & Bushy Tails (Ganaraska Field Trip)
Our second week with the crate will allow us to go even deeper with our learning as we zoom in nice and small to the wee wanderer and bushy tailed friends of the forest.
Week 8: The Tiny Seed- Book Study & Experiment
A classic read in the realm of nature based learning, “The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle” will guide us through the potent journey of a seed. We will take this teaching both figuratively and literally. Our day will end with a STEAM inspired experiment.
Week 9: Bugs & Grubs- Up Close + Personal
A variety of tools, alongside our bare hands, will be available for use as we get up close and personal with all sorts of bugs and grubs- in the dirt, in the bark of trees, in the long grass, etc. We will end our day with themed fireside cooking… SPIDER DOGS!

We will engage our minds eye this week as we look at the forest through the lens of magic. Fairy and fungi inspired crafts will infuse our day and enhance the feeling of magic at our homebase.
